When in Delhi, it would be a sin to miss out on the sumptuous North Indian cuisine that Delhi is distinguished for. North Indian cuisine in Delhi stands on the clutches of the North Indians’ penchant for dairy products and the dishes that are cooked out of it. Take Paneer and the ghee dripping paranthas for instance. I don’t know a single north Indian family whose mornings and evenings doesn’t start with any of these. It might sound a little overblown, but yes, daily meals- morning, afternoon and evening, are meaningless without a heavy dose of milk and butter.
Talking about the North Indian families and their eternal love food, I would like to add that I too herald from a family that houses some of the most absurd foodies; foodies who wouldn’t miss a chance to pounce on the anything that is even remotely north Indian-ish. Chicken served with thick and delectable gravies, a delicacy carved out of Paneer, along with paranthas with oodles of oil make up for a perfect idea of breakfast, lunch and dinner altogether! Breads like Poori and Bhatoora are insanely devoured by north Indian junkies. The ‘ghar ka khana’ is a parody that is shoved down a child right from the childhood- there is absolutely nothing about its cuisine that can’t be prepared by moma’s and granma’s at home. Yet, if you are one of those people who can’t do without having a sumptuous lunch at some great restauarant, then try a few north Indian restaurants Saket and South Delhi which are known for their enchanting decor and eclectic food.
What sets North Indian food apart from the other worldly counterparts is the diversity and the variety that it embosses in its ambit. From Samosa, the popular north Indian snack to kebabs and chicken, you can always put your taste buds to a happy north Indian dance.
